The area has been designated as a National Strategic Special Zone, an International Strategic Comprehensive Special Zone, and a Specified Priority Development Area for Urban Renaissance. Using preferential treatment systems – easing restrictions, financial support, taxation support, etc. – are also possible in this area.
Origin of the name
Kawasaki INnovation Gateway at SKYFRONT
"KING" is an acronym for "Kawasaki INnovation Gateway" and reflects the name of the town "Tono-machi" with "Tono" meaning "feudal lord". In addition, "SKYFRONT" is a reference to its close location to Haneda Airport, which connects Japan to the rest of the world, and is just across the Tama River.

KING SKYFRONT is an international strategic zone with an amazing site with every land-sea-and-air route.
- Located on the other side of Haneda Airport, there is nearly as much speedy access internationally as there is domestically.
- KING SKYFRONT is connected to both the Metropolitan Expressway and the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line. It also neighbors a wide-reaching truck road network that includes the Tomei Expressway and National Route 1. Accordingly, KING SKYFRONT boasts a very convenient and robust transportation network for central Tokyo and many other locations.
- KING SKYFRONT is located in the Keihin Industrial Area, which has accumulated outstanding manufacturing industry, and is near the Keihin Port (an international trading harbor); it plays an important role in vigorous urban industry developments.
Tamagawa Sky Bridge and the institution of its surroundings
On Saturday, March 12, 2022, the "Tamagawa Sky Bridge" connecting Haneda Airport and the Kawasaki waterfront area was opened.
This bridge is the first to connect the mouth of the Tama River to Haneda Airport, the gateway to the world. It also serves as an important infrastructure to support the formation of a hub for strategic growth on both banks of the Tama River by strengthening connections between the area surrounding Haneda Airport and the Keihin waterfront area with the aim of strengthening international competitiveness.

Night view of the factory zone
A dramatic night view of the factory zone spreads before your eyes, as numerous factories in the coastal area light up after dusk. It has become a popular tourist spot in recent years, with sightseeing buses and houseboats making regular rounds of observation trips.

Kawasaki Daishi Heikenji Temple
One of the biggest temples of the Chisan School of Shingon Buddhism. Very famous as miracle-working “Yakuyoke” (warding off evil), that leads people away from disaster. Approximately 300 million people from all over Japan pay the first visit of the year. “Furin-Ichi” (Wind-Bell-Market), held in July and features approximately 30,000 wind chimes (approximately 900 kinds) collected from all over Japan, makes citizens enjoy the summer with a cooling breeze.

Kawasaki Shuku
Kawasaki Shuku was established in 1623 to reduce the burden on Tenma (post-horses) traveling between Shinagawa Shuku and Kanagawa Shuku.Starting from the two towns of Shinshuku and Isago, the Kawasaki Shuku consisted of four villages including Kunezaki and Kotoro.

Kawasaki Ukiyo-e Gallery exhibits valuable Ukiyo-e and rare Nikuhitsu-ga (Japanese hand-drawn paintings in Ukiyo-e style) that are highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad as well as works related to the city and prefecture. It is directly connected to the north exit of Kawasaki Station.
